How it works

Party play

Up to four players can team up. Everyone in a party earns 3% more experience, but loot and kill credit stay with whoever tagged the creature.

Forming a party

Captain Badon's advice when you finish the tutorial comes with instructions:

To invite another player to your Party, hold Left Alt to free your cursor, click on them and choose Invite Player to Party. When you receive an invite, press ] to accept or [ to decline. Parties hold up to 4 players, and every member earns 3% bonus xp.

  • Inviting someone when you are not in a party makes you the leader of a new one.
  • An invite lasts 60 seconds. You cannot invite someone who is already in a party or already has an invite waiting.
  • The leader can promote someone else, kick a member or disband the party. Anyone can leave.

What a party shares

  • Experience bonus. Every experience award to a party member is multiplied by 1.03, rounded down. It does not matter how far apart you are or how many of you there are.
  • Chat. Type /p or /party to talk to the party only.
  • Your whereabouts. Party members see each other's health, stamina, level, map and effects, and a marker for each member on the large map.
  • Estates. You can visit the estates of your party members, and only theirs.

What a party does not share

  • Loot. Drops belong to the player who tagged the creature first. Fighting it together does not split them. See loot and drop rates.
  • Kill credit. Quest and task board kills count for the tagger alone.
  • Protection from each other. On a world with PvP switched on, party members can hurt each other like anyone else.

So when a party hunts for drops, take turns tagging, or split up the targets.
