Richard Diggins is a treasure hunter and a former thespian. When he finds you holding a torn treasure map, he announces "Well THAT would be my Treasure Map!", discovers that "a huge chunk" has been taken out of it, and in Artifact Of The Matter recruits you to find the missing pieces. He recites the riddles in his best performer's voice, and when the trail runs cold he goes for a walk to think it over. One piece of the map sits with a Thrunk napping on a roof behind the old Temple, who turns out to be his friend.
Spoilers: the treasure
When you guess that the hints were his and the treasure box is his, he answers "Guilty as charged!" He wanted a partner for the treasure hunting business, "But before I accepted them as a friend, I needed to make sure they were competent!"
He keeps an ear out for other finds. Afterwards he mentions "rumors of a lost expedition that ventured into the Abyss some time ago..."
