Combat

Every attack starts from a damage stat of 34. The game takes the larger of the creature's two damage numbers and puts it on all six damage types, and each attack then uses the type it deals.

Each point of resistance cuts that type's weapon damage a little: damage taken is e^{-0.0172 x resistance}. Hit it with cold and avoid heat.

Combat experience comes from the damage you deal: 1.8 xp per point, split evenly between the skills your weapon trains. Bringing a lesser brute down from full health is worth about 540 xp in total. Damage it blocks or you take gives Defense xp on top.
