Desolate zones and world events

Ruined places that everyone rebuilds together, and short events that pull players into the same job for a while. How to take part and what you get for it.

Both are shared. What you hand in or do counts for everyone on the server, and everyone who helps is paid for their own part.

Desolate zones

Around Badongerst, bridges, docks, coops and stables are in ruins. The game's own description of the region says why: "the people of Badongerst are still redeveloping the region after a war wiped most of the farmsteads of the region out nearly a hundred years ago."

Each ruin is rebuilt in stages.

  1. A stage asks for a list of materials, and often coin. Anyone can hand them in, a few or all at once.
  2. When the list is full, construction starts: a short event on the spot. See it through and the ruin moves on to its next stage.
  3. Once the last stage is done the place stays rebuilt for a while, then falls back into ruin, and the work starts over.

The first stage of Apple Farm Bridge asks for:

Hand inHow manyExperience for each one
Simple Beams603 Woodcutting, 4 Survival and 2 Warden
Collection of Iron Nails184 Mining, 5 Forging and 3 Warden
Poplar Logs205 Woodcutting and 2 Warden
Coins5,2001 Warden for every 50 coins
Copper Axe24 Mining, 5 Forging and 3 Warden
Copper Pickaxe24 Mining, 5 Forging and 3 Warden
Shovel28 Mining, 10 Forging and 5 Warden

What you get for each thing you hand in:

  • Merits. One Badongerst Merit for every item, or for every 100 coins. The game calls them "Merits awarded by the authority of Badongerst for helping repair their community."
  • Experience. Each item pays a set amount of experience in the skills that go into it, usually with a little Warden on top. Coins pay 1 Warden experience for every 50.

The desolate zones pages list every stage and every hand-in.

World events

World events are short jobs with a timer: drive off bandits, bring in a harvest, clear a rockslide. Most are started by talking to someone involved, and a few start by themselves every so often.

  • Take part by doing what the event asks, where it asks: kill, gather, craft or deliver. Everything you do adds to your own contribution.
  • When the event ends, your contribution decides your reward. Reach the full threshold for the full reward, or the lower one for half. Below that you still see how it went, but get nothing.
  • Some events reward experience, some items, some both. Several pay Warden experience.

These are the ones in the game now, in their own words:

Missing the Forest for the HerbsThe guards at the checkpoint need a bit of help with their forging issues, so naturally you'll help brew them forging potions to fix their issues rather than forging them better gear.

Each has its own page under world events, with its objectives, rewards and how it starts.
