About

Adon is the stranger who brings you back from the dead. After the attack on the Facturr Estate you wake in a place that is not the world, and a stranger greets you: "Well that's that, is it? Your journey has come to an end." Ask where you are and he says he is "just here to collect".

My name is Adon of Bythos... Though you may just refer to me as Adon. At your service.

He knows your name before you say it. He offers a second chance: "you'll just owe me a few favors, but we can worry about that later", along with "a few urges you may need to control and a hunger to sate." You can accept outright. Refuse, and he reminds you of Iris, who "had so much confidence in you", until you give in: "Fine, bring me back, but I'm not doing it for you." His answer: "You will be in due time." After that, dying sends you back to him, and he greets you with lines like "Back so soon? At this rate I'll keep you on retainer." The first time your belongings do not make the trip, he tells you they were "Reduced to ashes", but that for "a small contribution of coin" he can return them, and he gives three back for free. He can also be reached from a Death Trading Post ("Trade with Death"), where he answers: "Adon's delivery service, how may I help you?"

He describes himself as "an ancient, immortal entity" and complains that he gets no thanks for it. His ears are "rather pointy": in From Nothing he overhears occultists talking about the chamber door, and in The Crown - Part 1 he offers to guide you through the swamp's fog by ear. Once you are back in the world he speaks up now and then, uninvited, and he calls you "little hero". Mortals, he warns, "are short-lived creatures, and they forget faster than you might think." He has not yet said what the favors will be. Meeting With Death is the quest for learning more.
