History

The Facturr Estate is where your story starts, and where it ends the first time. It belonged to Lord Facturr, a man Captain Badon calls "a good man who helped many people find their place in life." You remember it like this:

After wandering for a long time on my own, I had stumbled upon this estate full of people like me. People lost, people unsure of their place, people on a journey.

In Humble Beginnings you wake in the spare bedchamber, because a leak sprang in your own bedroom the day before, and the household is busy. Tex Traman is moving boxes someone left blocking the way to the bedrooms. Ann Nuwi has just finished cleaning the water wheel after losing a draw of straws. Archibald Bear, "the one and the only Bald Bear", is packing apples into a barrel. Don Zindomoch, who will remind you that "Don is a title, not my first name", is setting the tables, because he is the Dinner Master. Iris Achate has let you sleep past midday, and there is dinner to make.

At dinner Lord Facturr prays to "Great spheres and ancestors who have moved beyond our sight, please see to it that we all can find a place in this world, and do our best to help those in need." That night the undead come up the road.

When you wake again in Kal Crossing weeks later, Captain Badon tells you "the estate had gone up in smoke" by the time the guard arrived, and that Lord Facturr "is nowhere to be found." Theodore's way back to it runs east along the north side of the Wesfil Loid, to "a break in the high cliffs" on your left.

Later, once you have found Iris again, you tell Theodore that "she and I are working on repairing the Facturr Estate together." Lord Facturr has still not been found.
