About
The Grand Master Warden is the old man in the cabin northwest of the Moorne Head; Captain Heggcorn says he "lives Northwest of the Moorne Head, in a small cabin", and the Warden himself mentions "the pond right beside my cabin." Asked his name, he says: "I don't have one." In his own telling, "for the longest time I've watched over the Moorne here", learning in the years he has "spent hunting beasts, defending travellers and maintaining the balance of nature."
Told he must not have many friends, he agrees: "I also didn't choose a place that makes it easy to get visitors either I'll admit- the price of wanting to be left alone." Company is welcome, though: "I'll put on some tea and you can tell me a story or two." The guards at the Moorne Fort know him too. When Captain Heggcorn suggests "maybe we need to call upon the Grandmaster Warden for his advice", his assistant Emelio Ratton answers: "Oh spheres..."
He remembers the Forrassis, "Guardians of the Moorne that hide from sight and live in harmony with nature", and how "the last of the Forrassis were driven further North by strife while we encroached on their territories." In Path of the Warden he asks for three stories over three visits, a tale of heroism, one of mystery, and one of difficult decisions, and then tells one of his own. Time has not been kind to him, and he says so. When you tell him "you look hardly a day over fifty two", he takes it well:
Bah, You're a few decades off, but I'll take the compliment.
His title, he says, "means that I have a deep understanding of the Warden Tennants." The three ideals are these:
To defend the helpless from the indifference of nature.
To listen, learn and seek out truths of the world and its problems, in order to correct them.
And to be able to make difficult decisions to protect the wilds, and humanity.
In his own words
Hah, you're quick. What's your name?
Well you'd be right, an old man who's lived as long as I have doesn't have too many friends left in his old age.
I see, I must say I was eager to hear one, but a warden is well taught to bide their time and wait. But an old man only has so long to wait, so don't take overlong.
