What a Warden is
The Grand Master Warden keeps a cabin northwest of the Moorne Head, and he explains the title himself:
My title of Grand Master Warden, it means that I have a deep understanding of the Warden Tennants. And part of my job was to find others who also embody those tenants and teach them all I know. These three ideals are...
To defend the helpless from the indifference of nature.
To listen, learn and seek out truths of the world and its problems, in order to correct them.
And to be able to make difficult decisions to protect the wilds, and humanity.
In game terms,
Warden is a skill like any other, levelled from 1 to 100. It does not come from fighting. It comes from doing the jobs people post.
Task boards
The Grand Master Warden sends you to them: "Our work is posted on the Task Boards in every town we watch over. Take what jobs you can manage, see them done, and your standing among us will grow." The game's own summary:
Interact with a Task Board to take on a job. You can hold up to 3 tasks at once. Completing tasks earns xp, coins and Warden Badges, and levels your Warden skill.
A task asks you to gather, craft or slay a number of something, rolled when you take it. Every one pays coins and experience for each item or kill, and almost all of them pay Warden experience alongside the skill the job uses. Some also pay merits for the region they come from.

Path of the Warden
The quest itself is a conversation. The Grand Master Warden trades tea for stories, and over three visits he listens for a tale of heroism, a tale of mystery and a tale of a difficult decision. Your stories come from quests you have finished, so do these first:
- Heroism: Deep Trouble. He only offers the quest once you have finished it.
- Mystery: The Badongerst Blaze or The Lost Artist.
- A difficult decision: Paths Diverge.
He warns you before you commit: "Following in my teachings will lead to much conflict, and the hunting of dangerous creatures who may bring you a grisly end. It is lucky for a Warden to live as long as I have."
Path of the Warden pays 1 quest point, 1,500
Survival and 1,000
Warden experience.
