About

Sir Theodore Badon is the captain of the Kal Crossing guard. When you first reach town, the Town Crier sends anything about the undead to him at the North Gate. His great-grandfather was Captain Gregor Badon. Theodore never met him ("I never met him, but my Father had overlap with Captain Badon"), and it was Mack Errol who "used to tell me such wonderful stories when I was growing up." Asked whether it is strange to have a town, Badongerst, named after his family line, he calls it "a great honor":

It is a standard for which many young men aim to align themselves with in this region, to be as 'bold as Badon,' as they say. To be named after him means that I carry his bravery in my blood, and that I'll do all in my power to meet his measure.

He is stretched thin. "We keep sending our best trained knights north to support the war efforts against the undead", and after the estate attack he cannot offer you any gear "thanks to material shortages in response to the war." In Persistence he tells you he made "that exact same request of his majesty not too long ago, and was met with similar disappointment."

He thinks "we should be turning our attention inward first." In From Nothing he asks you to help him investigate the disappearances on the south road, which he suspects are the work of occultists. In The Crown - Part 1 he heads to the South Fortress "By order of the king", and in The Crown - Part 2, after time among the people of Mirehaven, he admits "I have made some brash judgments about some of the people living here."

He often parts with a blessing: "May you walk in safety and strength." And if you try calling him Theo: "I'd prefer not. My mother used to call me that, you see, and I'd like to keep that as part of my memory of her."

In his own words

You're not the first to find yourself in your situation - I made that exact same request of his majesty not too long ago, and was met with similar disappointment. Despite my best efforts, I feel powerless to bring about the necessary change.

No doubt. And where there are zombies, there are occultists.

ANYWAY it's a good thing that those aren't drunks, just zombies, which aren't protected under royal decrees. Unless they're drunk zombies... then that would be a bit more complicated.

Royal decree 161 dictates that the helmet stays ON during quests of valor-

Theodore, refusing to take off his helmet while disguised as an occultist

Spoilers: after the swamp

I have things to learn, though I know that I am on the right path. You heard what Atlas said about our bravery. I am not sure how my great grandfather might have handled this situation, and I feel that perhaps I'll never know. But I think so long as I listen, and continue to be brave, I can get close.
